Why not come up with your own Viking nickname? Something like:

Chris Crazy-Hair

Marwan Mint-Muncher

Of course, having a nifty nickname, a homely house and some well-crafted treasures was all very good. But there was something else a Viking needed if he or she really wanted to show off: fancy foreign goods. Things like wine, art, weapons . . . you name it, so long as it was foreign and exclusive.

Of course, we’ve already learned a lot about Viking trade in the British Isles. But more fabulous goods came from even further afield.
